Travel to Musanze (former Ruhengeri) in Northern Rwanda. The journey takes you higher to where you can see the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda. Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in the Volcanoes National Park
Early in the morning, report to the park headquarters at Kinigi Village and get briefed about gorilla tracking in the Volcanoes National Park. The guides will allocate you a gorilla group that you will trek. Enter the gorilla sanctuary of Parc National des Volcans (PNV), the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. Please note that gorilla trekking is a demanding but rewarding experience that involves trekking for long hours in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. Ensure you bring with you enough water and the packed lunch. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the gorillas in their natural environments. After the trek, you will return back to the lodge. In the afternoon, go for the Ibywachu Experience, a local community experience organized by former poachers who have embraced tourism. Overnight at the Lodge
