Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park
Our tour guide will pick you at your Hotel. Start your tour with a drive to Fortportal in the Western part of Uganda. You will have lunch en-route in Fortportal Town. After lunch proceed to Kibale Forest National Park, the home the best place to see chimpanzees in Uganda. The journey takes you the crater lakes region. Day 2: Primates Walk in Kibale Forest
After morning breakfast, our guide will drive you to Kanyanchu Information Centre. You will be briefed by the ranger guide about chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest. Depart for the chimp trek on a guided walk through the forest. Along the walks you may spot chimpanzees as well as some other primates that include white colobus monkeys, , grey-checked mangabey, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, Baboons etc. If you love birds, there are also several bird species that you may see. These include the great blu turacco, Africa pied king fisher, malkites. Return for lunch. Go for a nature walk within the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Lots of birds can be spotted during the walk. Day 3: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning breakfast. Explore the Crater Lakes Region. Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park located on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Traveling via Kasesse, enjoy the drive through this scenic region of Uganda. Enjoy game drive upon entering into the park. Here you have a chance to view different fauna and flora. The Rwenzori mountains can also be seen at a glance along the way including the tea estates. In the afternoon, go for an evening game drive. Day 4: Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, you will leave for an early morning game drive with opportunities to view a wide range of wildlife such as elephants, giant forest hogs, waterbucks, buffaloes, topi, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel with a high concentration of hippos, herds of buffaloes and elephants. Day 5: Game Viewing in the Ishasha Sector
After Early morning breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive in the Ishasha region where you may have opportunities to spot the tree climbing lions. Other animals to see in the Ishasha are hyenas, buffaloes, the Uganda Kob, elephants, etc. Most of these animals can be spotted on the game drive. Return to the lodge for lunch. Relax at the lodge. Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Travel through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey to Bwindi is rewarding with sights of various animals. Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
After a breakfast, our guide will drive you to the park outpost. Get briefed about gorilla tracking from the destination guides. After getting allocated to the gorilla family you are to visit, depart for the gorilla tracking experience on a guided walk through the impenetrable forest. As you enjoy both an amazing and exciting experience to you may sport other interesting bird species. Other animals with in Bwindi include nocturnal primates such as the bush buck and Galagos. Upon meeting the endangered mountain gorillas, you have a full hour to watch these great apes enjoying their daily chores. After the gorilla trek, have your lunch and then embark on a return hike to the briefing point. Pick your certificates and travel to the nearby Lake Bunyonyi. Day 8: Explore Lake Bunyonyi Island
Explore Lake Bunyonyi, the region also known as the Switzerland of Africa. Take a boat ride and visit one of the islands on the lake. You will have to interact with the Batwa people, a pygmy tribe spread across Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These relatively short people lived in the forests as fruit gatherers and hunters, a lifestyle that led to them to embrace civilization at a later time compared to their neighboring tribes. During the tour, you can also observe different bird species that can be spotted at the islands. After Lunch, relax at the lodge. Day 9: Travel to Rwanda
Following breakfast, drive to Musanze (former Ruhengeri). After completing all the boarder formalities at the Cyanika border, enter Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. Take a brief stopover at the Twin Lakes. Take a tour around the lively and friendly town centre of Ruhengeri. Check into the lodge. Have lunch and then relax while watching a cultural performance of a local dance group at the Ibywachu Cultural Center also known as the Gorilla Guardian Village. Day 10: Go for gorilla trekking in PNV, Rwanda
Wake up early morning and go for gorilla trekking in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park. Visit one of the last mountain gorilla families in the world, one of the supreme highlights in the lives of many nature lovers. Return to the lodge for lunch. After the trek, relax at the lodge.
Day 11: Golden Monkey Tracking
After breakfast, go for golden monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park. This ancient species of monkeys can be seen in a few areas within Africa; the Virunga Region. Day 12: Kigali City Tour & Airport Transfer
