This 2 Days (1 Night) trip takes you to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a 10 acre forest area, home to over 40 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees. Located deep within Lake Victoria, you will travel by boat from Entebbe to this sanctuary managed and run by the Jane Goodall Institute. Ngamba Sanctuary is one of the few successful exsitu conservation projects in Africa. On your tour, you will watch chimpanzees, feed them and even walk with them. Apart from chimpanzees, the sanctuary also supports an array of larger game and bird life.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Ngamba Island
Wake up in high spirit because you are going to make friends with the chimpanzees, our next cousins in the wild. Our guide will pick you from your hotel for a transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center in Entebbe. You can take a brief tour of the center and learn about the different wildlife in Uganda.

Later transfer by boat to Ngamba Island chimpanzee Sanctuary. Ngamba Island is in Kome archipelago on Lake Victoria and is home to 39 orphaned Chimpanzees. The boat ride from Entebbe to Lake Victoria takes about 45 minutes or an hour. On arrival you will have a short briefing and introduction, shortly it will be time for feeding the chimps. Enjoy the fascinating show your new found friends can put up. There is real drama during feeding time when you will observe the different characters in the chimps with some whistling for food and others clapping. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the fresh breeze. Dinner and over night at Ngamba island sanctuary camp.

Day 2: Forest Walk
Wake up for the forest walk where you will interact will the juvenile group aged between 4-7 years old. During the forest walk the chimps may climb all over you, and normally many at the same time. They may expect you to carry them, so be ready for the excitement. After the nature walk, board your boat back to the main land where you will meet your guide for your drive back to Kampala.
